Eulogy read at the funeral service

Eulogy for Keith Killian Keith was born on 18th June 1945 in Worthing, Sussex, to Frank and Margaret Killian. Dad, Frank, worked for the Inland Revenue and also as a milkman, and Mum, Margaret, was a homemaker. Keith had a sister called Marilyn, and a brother named Geoffrey; they were known as Mal and Geoff. Unfortunately, they are unable to be with us here today, so our thoughts and prayers are with them also, on this sad day. Keith attended St Andrews School and Durrington High School in Worthing; He loved sports like squash and tennis, in fact, he loved sports in general, as long as he could participate in them and not just stand on the sidelines. When Keith left school at the age of fifteen, he joined ‘Macfisheries’ as a trainee manager, working for the company until he was twenty years of age. After leaving that employment, Keith followed in his dad’s footsteps by working as a milkman for a period of time. After this job Keith joined the Prison Service, serving as a Prison Officer at Dorchester for the next twenty five years. Keith’s last job before coming to Spain was a position in a Dental Services company – he was fondly known to his customers as ‘Keith the teeth’ Keith did have a nickname – he was known as ‘Willy’ ?? – I’ll leave you all to work that one out ! Rose and Keith were married on 12th June 1965, at St Michaels Church in Camberley, Surrey, and went on to produce three children, Karen, Maria and Karl. They went on to present Keith and Rose with five super Grand-children, Zak, Sam, Ben, Megan and Leah. Keith and Rose loved traveling, visiting many countries around the world – from cruising the Caribbean to visiting the Greek Islands and holidaying more locally on Tenerife. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, quizzes, and in Spain loved ‘Short Mat Bowls’, which they played twice a week with their friends. Keith also loved darts and playing darts for his local darts team; he was a good player and won a number of trophies for his skill with his arrows. Keith also had a passion for cooking – he loved it, and Rose told me that she has not had to cook for the last five years, since arriving in Spain. Keith’s taste in music was wide and varied; he especially loved the 60’s and 70’s Rock and Pop music; they both enjoyed the theatre and musicals. Keith did have a saying which was ‘the pepperchef’s on tonight’ whenever he was presented with highly spiced food in a restaurant. One of Keith’s loves was that of D.I.Y and he would not throw anything away that might be of use to him at a later date. He would attempt to fix anything and everything that was broken… from heaters to watches, and if there were any bits and pieces left over after he had put the items back together, it did not phase him…. He had to have a go. Many of his Mr Fixit jobs were described by the family to me as, ‘Keith Robinson” Keith was the head of his family and loved his family dearly. He was described to me as being strong willed and everyone knew when Keith was around… he had a presence about him… something very, very, special. Keith loved a good laugh, told jokes badly [usually delivering the punch-line at the beginning], and when Keith laughed, he would set everyone else off laughing too. Keith, you meant so much to your family and to so many people who loved you dearly; you will be missed so very much – God bless you
